The UALR Ham Club has a station room located on the fifth (top) floor of the ETAS (Engineering I) building. The shack is accessed through the ETAS 553 meeting room/small classroom, where ham club meetings are usually held.
At this time, the shack contains several HF and VHF radios, including the 146.850 repeater system. Presently our equipment includes a Kenwood TS820, Alinco DX70, Radio Shack HTX-100 10 meter rig, Radio Shack 2 meter rig, and various test gear. In the summer of 2011, the club president and faculty sponsor received a NASA Arkansas Space Grant Award to purchase the components for a space communications ground system! The system uses a Yaesu FM dual band transceiver with an az/el rotatable 144/440 antenna array for contacts via orbiting ham satellites or with the International Space Station (ISS).
NOTE: operations cannot take place in the station room if classes are being held in ETAS 553. Hams checked out on the equipment in the room can obtain access to the Station Room. Discuss this with a club officer or the faculty advisor.
